Jean-Pierre Rietsch took over the family estate in 1987, the 7th generation to reside there (they moved in in the 1600s). His parents, Pierre and Doris, were the first to plant vines on the land. Previously, the land had been dedicated to a broader array of crops, with JP’s ancestors farming and working alongside the winemaking industry in cooperage (barrel-making) and other wine-related industries.
